CORPORATE

Virginia Championship Wrestling (VCW) was established in 1996 by “Big Daddy” Ronnie Nowel, bringing the best in professional wrestling to the Commonwealth. VCW Regulars at that time included Gary Masters, Pyro with Big Daddy P.I., Jeff Collette, “Punisher” Tommy Rose, Bad Dog Mike Thomas, Rustee “The Fox” Thomas, Ray Storm, and more!

VCW Ring Announcer Travis Bradshaw started promoting shows under the VCW banner in 1999 and ran many events in Norfolk, Hampton, Newport News, Virginia Beach, Gloucester, and Suffolk. The promotion rose to prominence in the early 2000’s through monthly events at Mitty’s Night Club and featured cutting edge content that is still talked about today.

A partnership with Jerry Stephanitsis and Telly Bistis saw the promotion grow into a weekly televised product on Fox43 in the Hampton Roads Market. Some of the biggest stars in pro wrestling history made appearances regularly.
The promotion was known as Vanguard Championship Wrestling from 2006 to 2019. During a hiatus due to the pandemic in 2019, the decision was made to revert back to our roots and return as Virginia Championship Wrestling.
The company was restructured, with Jerry Stephanitsis as Director of Operations and thus in charge of day-to-day operations. Key players were shifted in behind-the-scenes roles in order to propel our product into its current status. The Virginia Heavyweight Championship was also reinstated as the premier championship in the state.
